Soho Cleaners Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Soho Cleaners in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Soho Cleaners provides professional cleaning services and recognises that modern slavery is a serious crime and violation of fundamental human rights.

Our Zero-Tolerance Approach

Soho Cleaners has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, child labour, and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place within our own business or in any of our supply chains.

All directors, managers, employees, agency workers, and contractors are expected to uphold this commitment. Breaches of this policy by any employee may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Where suppliers are found to be in breach of our standards in relation to modern slavery, we will take appropriate action, which may include suspension or termination of the business relationship.

Our Supply Chains and Supplier Standards

Our supply chains primarily include providers of cleaning products, consumables, equipment, agency labour, facilities services, and other business support services. Soho Cleaners aims to work only with suppliers that share our commitment to ethical employment practices and respect for human rights.

We are developing and maintaining supplier standards that set out our expectations in relation to modern slavery, including compliance with all applicable labour laws, prohibition of forced or compulsory labour, fair wages, and safe and respectful working conditions. Suppliers are required to confirm that they understand and will work towards meeting these standards.

Supplier Due Diligence and Audits

Soho Cleaners is implementing proportionate due diligence procedures for new and existing suppliers. These procedures may include pre-qualification checks, assessment of policies and practices relating to labour and human rights, and evaluation of geographical and sector-specific risks.

Where appropriate and based on risk, we conduct or commission supplier audits to verify compliance with our modern slavery expectations. These audits may be conducted on-site or remotely and can include document reviews, management interviews, and, where practical, confidential worker discussions. Any non-conformities or concerns identified are followed up with corrective action plans, clear deadlines, and ongoing monitoring.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Soho Cleaners encourages an open culture where concerns about unethical behaviour, including suspected modern slavery, can be raised without fear of retaliation. Workers within our business and individuals within our supply chains are encouraged to report any concerns about exploitation, unsafe working conditions, withholding of passports or wages, or any other indicators of modern slavery.

Concerns can be raised through internal reporting routes or via line managers or senior management. All reports are taken seriously and will be treated as confidential to the extent possible. Soho Cleaners is committed to investigating all credible concerns promptly, taking appropriate remedial action, and cooperating with relevant authorities where required.

Training and Awareness

We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees and key suppliers. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and contract management, receive training on recognising the signs of modern slavery, understanding our reporting channels, and applying our policies in day-to-day decisions.

We also aim to make information about our zero-tolerance stance and expectations available to agency workers and subcontractors so they understand their rights and know how to raise concerns.

Monitoring and Annual Review

Soho Cleaners is committed to continuous improvement in identifying and reducing the risk of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains. We monitor the effectiveness of our actions through regular review of reported concerns, audit findings, and supplier performance.

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed and updated annually by the senior leadership of Soho Cleaners. As part of each review, we consider changes in our business, developments in legislation and best practice, and feedback from stakeholders. Any necessary amendments to our policies, procedures, and training are implemented following this review to strengthen our approach year on year.

This statement has been approved by the leadership of Soho Cleaners, who are responsible for ensuring its implementation and for overseeing our ongoing efforts to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking.
