Our Story at Soho Cleaners

Soho Cleaners began with a simple idea: to provide a reliable, professional cleaning company in the area that truly understands the rhythm, character, and needs of Soho. Over a decade ago, our founders lived and worked around Dean Street, Wardour Street and Old Compton Street. They saw first-hand how homes, offices, studios, and small independent venues in the area needed a cleaning service that was flexible enough to work around late nights, busy footfall and compact spaces, while still being environmentally responsible.

From those early days serving a handful of apartments near Soho Square and offices off Berwick Street Market, Soho Cleaners has grown into a dedicated area cleaning service with deep roots in the community. We remain independently run and locally focused, committed to the same values that shaped us at the beginning: care, consistency and respect for both our clients and our neighbourhood.

Years of Local Experience

For more than ten years, Soho Cleaners has been working across the streets and estates of Soho and the surrounding area. Our teams are a familiar sight around Golden Square, Greek Street, and the lanes leading out towards Piccadilly Circus and Tottenham Court Road. Many of our long-standing clients live or work in local developments and estates, and we understand the particular challenges of maintaining clean, tidy spaces in high-traffic buildings with shared entrances, lifts and communal areas.

Because we have been operating locally for so many years, we know how to work effectively in everything from period apartments overlooking Soho Square Gardens, to busy creative offices near Carnaby Street, to compact mews houses and split-level flats tucked behind Charing Cross Road. This day-to-day familiarity with the area allows us to offer a cleaning company in the area that is both efficient and genuinely tailored to local life.

Environment Agency Licensing and Professional Standards

Soho Cleaners takes its responsibilities seriously. We are fully licensed with the Environment Agency for the handling and transfer of waste as part of our cleaning operations. This means that when we remove waste as part of a clean, we do so in line with current regulations and best practices, ensuring that anything we collect is transported and processed responsibly.

Our licensing is not just a box-ticking exercise; it is part of our wider commitment to being a trustworthy area cleaning service. We maintain detailed records of our waste handling, keep up to date with regulatory changes, and ensure that every member of staff who deals with waste has the appropriate training. For our clients, this offers peace of mind that their cleaning company in the area is operating properly and transparently.

Trained and Supported Staff

The heart of Soho Cleaners is our team. We invest heavily in training, support and development to make sure that every cleaner is confident, skilled and prepared for the variety of spaces we service across Soho. New staff complete an in-depth induction that covers cleaning techniques, product use, health and safety, customer care and confidentiality. They shadow experienced team members on real local jobs, from small studios near Oxford Street to managed offices close to Leicester Square, so they learn how to adapt to different environments and client expectations.

Ongoing training is just as important. We run refresher sessions on safe chemical handling, updated methods for hard floor and carpet care, and specialist tasks such as post-refurbishment cleaning or student move-out cleans in nearby residential blocks. Our supervisors carry out regular quality checks and offer one-to-one feedback, ensuring that our standards stay consistently high and that staff feel valued and supported.

Our Mission as a Local Cleaning Company

Our mission at Soho Cleaners is to provide a dependable, high-quality area cleaning service that gives our clients more time and peace of mind, while minimising our impact on the environment and maximising our positive contribution to the local community.

We believe that a clean home or workplace should feel calm, safe and welcoming. We also believe that a cleaning company in the area should be easy to work with, transparent about its practices, and responsive to the unique character of the neighbourhood in which it operates. Everything we do, from the way we schedule visits around local events to the way we train our teams, is designed to support that mission.

Eco-Responsibility at the Core of What We Do

Soho is a busy, vibrant part of London, and we want to help keep it that way without adding unnecessary strain to the environment. Our eco-responsibility approach starts with the products we choose. Wherever suitable, we use low-impact cleaning solutions that are effective yet gentler on air quality and surfaces. We assess each site individually, balancing hygiene requirements with the most environmentally considerate options available.

We also focus on water and energy efficiency. Our staff are trained to use appropriate quantities of water and to work methodically so that equipment is used for only as long as it is needed. Over the years, this has helped us to significantly reduce waste across our portfolio of regular cleans in apartments, shared houses and workspaces stretching from Soho Square to the edges of Covent Garden and Fitzrovia.

Recycling Partnerships and Responsible Waste Handling

Our commitment to the environment extends beyond cleaning solutions. Soho Cleaners works in partnership with local waste and recycling providers to make sure that recyclable materials are handled correctly. We follow local council guidance and utilise borough recycling centres, including facilities serving the Soho area, to divert as much waste as possible away from landfill.

On many of our regular contracts, we help clients to separate recyclables from general waste, provide clear labelling for bins and advise on how best to prepare items for collection in line with local services. Whether we are dealing with office paper and packaging from a creative studio off Regent Street, or household recycling from flats around Oxford Circus and Shaftesbury Avenue, we take care to support responsible disposal at every step.

Rooted in the Soho Community

What sets Soho Cleaners apart is our genuine connection to the community we serve. Many of our team members live in or near the area, shop at Berwick Street Market, relax in Soho Square Gardens and use the same local facilities as our clients. Over the years, we have supported community initiatives and local events, from helping tidy shared stairwells and courtyards in nearby estates to working with small independent businesses that give this part of London its distinctive character.

We schedule our visits with consideration for local life, taking into account busy periods around theatres on Shaftesbury Avenue, late-night venues off Old Compton Street and the flow of visitors near Piccadilly Circus. By staying closely connected to what is happening on the ground, we are able to provide a cleaning company in the area that is not just efficient, but truly integrated into the day-to-day life of Soho.

Looking Ahead

As Soho continues to evolve, Soho Cleaners will keep adapting with it. We are exploring new eco-friendly products, refining our training programmes, and deepening our recycling partnerships with borough services to make our area cleaning service even more sustainable and effective.

What will not change is our commitment to the people and places that make this neighbourhood unique. From historic streets and lively squares to quiet residential corners, we are proud to play our part in keeping Soho clean, welcoming and full of life.
